Clothing Library

Griffith University

Problem Statement:

There are numerous environmental, ethical and affordability issues associated with the fast fashion industry which The Clothing Library strives to address. Failing to address the harmful effects of society’s capitalistic mindset towards fashion not only perpetuates cyclical poverty and child labour, but also significantly contributes to the unfolding climate crisis.

Theory of Change:

The Clothing Library aims to reimagine the way society consumes clothing. We present an alternative to the prominent ‘buy-own-dispose’ model of consumption, instead creating a circularity which celebrates the history and story behind each garment.

Impact:

Students in need have access to professional, corporate outfits, which in turn reduces the amount of textile waste sent to landfill and supports a sense of community.
