How has being part of Enactus influenced /impacted you personally?

Being part of Enactus has had a significant personal impact on me. I had the opportunity to meet incredible individuals who became some of my closest friends, and we still keep in touch today. The experience itself was incredibly rewarding, knowing that we were making a positive difference in our community.

How has being part of Enactus influenced / impacted you professionally?

Being a part of Enactus amplified my enthusiasm for social impact and inspired me to pursue a purpose-driven career. The practical projects we worked on provided me with valuable experience and allowed me to apply what I was learning in university to a real-life setting. Being part of Enactus also helped me develop crucial leadership and creative problem-solving skills that I constantly utilise in my role as Deputy Mayor.

What skills and competencies did Enactus help you develop?

Through my involvement in Enactus, I honed my leadership abilities – especially in leading our team at the National Competition. One notable experience was during the Finals of the National Competition when I, alongside my teammates, had the chance to present in front of hundreds of people. Although it was nerve-wracking, the experience was also incredibly exhilarating.

Leading my team through the competition process, coordinating our efforts, and effectively conveying our project’s impact to the audience allowed me to sharpen my leadership skills and gain confidence in guiding a team towards a common goal.

My Enactus experience also fostered my problem-solving skills, encouraging me to think outside the box and find innovative solutions to complex challenges. Enactus’s action-oriented approach taught me the importance of learning by doing.

How would you describe the benefits of Enactus to someone who is considering joining a team?

There are so many benefits to joining Enactus. Firstly, it provides the opportunity to form lifelong friendships with like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a difference. Enactus also offers a creative and practical way to contribute to social impact, allowing students to get hands-on experience in creating meaningful change. Finally, Enactus complements academic studies by providing interdisciplinary experiences that broaden your perspective and skill set.

Please share some detail about a memorable experience / experiences you had whilst with Enactus.

One of my most memorable experiences with Enactus was the launch of our social enterprise, uneARThed. uneARThed worked with people affected by homelessness to share their stories through art. We had a big gala to officially launch the project – showcasing dozens of masterpieces created by our uneARThed artists. Witnessing the artists’ faces light up as they saw their work proudly displayed for people to admire was incredibly fulfilling.

Briefly outline your career journey.

I graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons). While still a student in 2017, I was elected to the Town of Mosman Park Council at the age of 21, which was a remarkable opportunity. This experience opened doors for me, and I was re-elected to the Council in 2021. Currently, I hold the position of Deputy Mayor, where I continue contributing to my community and utilising the skills and knowledge I gained through Enactus and my studies. During this time, I have also taught marketing and management at UWA as an academic tutor, and have been an Innovation & Design Facilitator for a corporate innovation firm. I even had a stint where I took on the role of Chief Sock Designer for an e-commerce business!
